Hup Lee Fried Bee Hoon // Yishun


I will write something about my tasting experience. But this time round Miss HB expressed her undying rave about Hup Lee Bee Hoon. So off we went to Swee Sian Eating House at Yishun.






In terms of Economical Bee Hoon. Hup Lee is the better ones i have taken.

I do not advocate using the term “best” because it is subjective in the tongue of the one tasting. But this Hup Lee to me is good.

All the side dishes were tasty and does not overwhelm with grease. Chilli is old school sweet and tangy, similar to Chili of Nasi Lemak. Good blend with everything that’s on my plate.

If you’re concern over which to order – Bee Hoon or Fried Dark Noodles or Kway Teow. Be confident  to order any which you like. The standard is pretty much the same – good.
My personal food tasting starts with Bee Hoon.

Overall a delightful experience. Worth the trip.

Fu Lin Yong Tau Foo // East Coast


Located beside Siglap Centre. Parking is little hard during dinner. Careful not to park anyhow, summon auntie and uncle extremely on around the vicinity.

Fu Lin Tou Fu Yuen is one of the better tasting local Yong Tau Foo delicacy. You can see from the images, there’s deep fried Yong Tau Foo vs water boiled Yong Tau Foo. Paired with either Chor Bee Hoon (Thick Rice Noodles) or Steamed Plain Rice. (They only have 2 selection)

If you wish to try the authentic taste Fu Lin offers. Try the Deep fried Yong Tau Foo. This will be the default cooking method.

You are health conscious, then go for their alternative*
Go for the boiled Yong Tau Foo. This will be my personal choice.

*Do request for your Yong Tau Foo to be cooked with water. Not deep fried.

I have to point out the main highlight of Fu Lin Yong Tau Foo is in their dark starchy gravy is the reason why i kept going back again and again.
But, to do takeaway is really another level of goodness. They separate gravy and Yong Tau Foo in different packaging.
The gravy is extremely flavourful.

I can’t say much when eating in, the standard varies. So my personal option is to do takeaway.


Next highlight will be the sweet sauce and chilli sauce combo. Excellent balance. I like mixing into my rice noodles to enhance the taste.


I haven’t try the Yong Tau Foo Fusion outlet at Telok Ayer Street. Might head there one day.

Try to go during Lunch Hours, it somewhat taste better than Dinner time. My opinion though.

Outram Park Fried Kway Teow // Chinatown


The continual long queue at Outram Park Fried Kway Teow Stall is one of the highlight for good food located Hong Lim Market and Food Centre.

If you’re thinking this Char Kway Teow have high cholesterol and blah blah blah. Please refrain yourself from reading. Stop glorifying restaurant food (fast food) as healthy and our local delights as sinful. It’s the same, like how TCM sensei always say. It’s relativity, only how much you eat. Taking too much of a good thing everyday is no good. Moderation is the key.

Anyway, if you have read most of the bloggers raving over this stall as one of the best Char Kway Teow in Singapore. They are not wrong at all.
I usually don’t go to places bloggers rate best or good. LOL! (Shhh)
For my personal taste, the secret is in those plump cockles. So fresh and brilliantly undercooked! Oh yes, combination of smashed eggs with every mouthful of Fried Kway Teow Mee is perfect. This dish is addictive i tell you.
If you don’t like cockles like Miss HB. *Meh* Let them know you don’t want See Hum.

Go ahead, make your way to Hong Lim Food Centre, queue and try it.

Penang Delights Prawn Noodles // Ang Mo Kio


I like what Tiger Beer is doing.

So let me feature on Penang Delights. One of the place I frequent for the prawn noodles.
I my suggestion is to try both Soup and Dry. As for my preference, I preferred the dry version all the time.

My food tasting will always start with dry version, Any kind of Yellow noodles, combine together with soup, will taste bland.
If you don’t believe you can order the dry version and the soup version then try. Of course usually when you take Prawn Noodles, you want to have the soup version right?

And for your information, if you order the soup version medium size fresh prawns will be served. Dry version served with dried prawns.

Standard pretty much stays the same. I prefer having it during lunch hour, soup stays clear. During evening, the soup stocks gets too powdery and dry. Still delicious though.

I stay pretty near Ang Mo Kio, so heading to the coffee shop to get this have a food has always been craving for me. These days they close pretty early, almost before 9PM.
So for those of you who have yet to try the Prawn Noodles or Lor Mee.
Do it between lunch hour and before 9PM.

Sad to say there’s nothing much in the coffee shop apart from Chicken wings, it’s pretty good. But not the best I have eaten.
